1/3/2024 0 Comments Virtual dj home edition review![]() The emo-erotic bubble of the visuals does what the story can’t quite manage alone, and captures the momentousness of first love. Taguchi has an intuitive sense of when to embellish his elegant figurework with epiphanic flourishes: the intersecting contrails in the sky as the lovebirds get their act together, or Kaoru in profile on the floor caught in a cascade of Anzu’s hair. The animation, though, is something else. The tunnel ends up feeling like a bit of a gimmick rather than an all-consuming anomaly. With much of the plot focused on Kaoru and Anzu gauging the time-bending parameters almost scientifically, the director isn’t completely committed to weighing up the cost of their ultimate wishes in terms of what it means for their budding relationship. But Taguchi doesn’t delve too hard into the premise. The film’s metaphysical setup – asking what price we pay in the real world for chasing our obsessions – aims at something with the grand lyrical sweep of Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name. As they investigate the tunnel, and try to pin down its properties, Kaoru is drawn increasingly closer to this soft-spoken but hard-nosed free spirit – and troubled by her egotism in wanting to forge on inside to acquire the talent to become a superlative manga artist. And he finds an unexpected ally in Anzu (Marie Iitoyo), the new girl in his high-school class to whom he lends an umbrella one morning at the station. Kaoru wants to bring his younger sister, Karen, back to life his alcoholic father blames him for her death. But mere seconds spent in this molten-canopied alley chasing after your heart’s desire equate to hours on the outside minutes mean years. A few metres down the railway track from a smalltown station in Tomohisa Taguchi’s anime romance, downtrodden hero Kaoru (Oji Suzuka) slips down a bank to find a cleft in a rockface it gives on to the Urashima tunnel, a magical passageway capable of granting your greatest wish. The tour is one of the highest grossing since records began, with Billboard reporting that it is the first to bring in $900m (£701,460m) worth of ticket sales. The Planet of the Apes and the waterworld in Interstellar aren’t the only places in cinema where the time dilation phenomenon can be observed. Microsoft Teams paywallĮarlier in the week, Microsoft Teams customers received some not-so-good news as we reported that Microsoft is locking some existing features behind the more expensive Teams Premium add-on, launching next month at $10/user/month. But if you simply can't wait for that, another interesting news item for you could be that hell has frozen over as preview apps for Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Devices have landed in the Microsoft Store. Rufus received an updated FIDO script to fix broken Windows ISO downloads while its alternative Ventoy resolved numerous bugs related to Windows 11 requirements bypass, a VHDX booting issue, and more.įinally, in terms of app updates, it seems like the new Windows 11 Media Player is also on its way to Windows 10. Third-party developers weren't far behind in providing software updates either. In the same vein, Microsoft is making it easier for IT admins to manage Win32 app upgrades and replacements across their organizations too. It also established a partial fix for a Friday the 13th bug that led to Defender randomly deleting shortcuts on various versions of Windows. Both the operating systems are no longer supported which means that Microsoft will not provide technical support for them and you might run into security and usability issues while running the OSes too. This week, Microsoft finally put Windows 7 and 8.1 to sleep forever in terms of support. And if that is the case, you will be relieved to know that Microsoft is actively investigating the problem. Some of you might also have noticed slow download and install speeds when updating to new Windows 11 Insider builds. In the same vein, the Redmond tech giant is also planning on killing off Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool (MSDT) within the next couple years, likely due to the security threats it poses. Furthermore, the students hope their work can provide insight into how a crowd of humans might collectively move in an emergency situation-running from a burning building or an earthquake, for example.Įxperiments of human motion in crowds have previously been attempted, but the situations are typically contrived and certainly not panicked, Silverberg said. Ever since their paper was uploaded to the arXiv, they've received lots of attention for their unusual experiments. The attempt to quantify moshers in a mosh pit isn't just for fun-they're looking to get published. This reminded the researchers of "circle pits"-a subset of mosh pits in which participants turn into a human collective whirlpool. But when flocking dominated random collisions between moshers, a more ordered, vortex-like state emerged. Mixing these populations together, the researchers found that when random collisions dominated the tendency to flock, the result was a run-of-the-mill mosh pit. Passive MASHers remain more stationary-mimicking concertgoers who prefer not to risk injury. Active MASHers move around with a tendency to follow their neighbors, so they tend to flock. Their simulations consisted of two types of moshers, which they dubbed Mobile Active Simulated Humanoids, or MASHers. He also made an interactive version of the simulation, in which different parameters like "noise" and "flocking" can be tuned. To understand what they were seeing, Bierbaum created a computer simulation based on the notion of "flocking," which is what happens when particles-or in this case, humans-tend to follow each other. Their scientific criteria for choosing YouTube videos: "The least shaky." "If you want to understand how people behave in extreme conditions, this provides a good lens to start looking at human collective behavior," Silverberg said.įor their experiments, the researchers downloaded YouTube videos of moshers moshing and used automated tracking techniques employed in associate professor of physics Itai Cohen's research group to quantify the crowd's motion. They discovered that the moshers' behavior, like flocks of birds or gas particles, can be predicted with simplified theoretical models. Silverberg quantified the motions of moshers with fellow student and metal fan Matt Bierbaum for a project in the advanced statistical mechanics class of James Sethna, Cornell professor of physics. ![]() ![]() When that happens, FaceTime doesn’t always re-enable the camera automatically when you end screen sharing, so you may need to tap the camera icon in the FaceTime controls to turn it back on. 1/3/2024 0 Comments 4d chess![]() Chess is 3-dimensional in the same way that it's 69-dimensional, but the minimum dimensions required is <=2. I can't think of a way to losslessly describe it with fewer than 2 dimensions, but this doesn't mean that proof doesn't exist. all we know is the position of each piece on a line and whose move is next. For every chess rule I think we could find some equivalent description on this line and play 2D chess. If we play on this line pawns wouldn't move forward one rank, they'd move 8 steps right or left depending on the color. Nothing stops us from numbering all the squares on a chessboard 0-63 where a1 is 0 and h8 is 63, and then defining an equivalent ruleset to the chess we are familiar with. So putting those together, do we need all 3 of those dimensions? I think not. I know most people are only talking about spatial dimensions, but you do have to know who is about to move in a chess game. You could describe the position of everyone on earth with 4 dimensions, 3 spatial and 1, "do I personally like them" dimension, but that last demension doesn't seem necessary.Ģnd observation, chess clearly fits on 3 dimensions, move number (a kind of analogue for time), and position of pieces on a 2 dimensional coordinate system. But I'm also a moron, so here's my take.ġst observation, you can always include a superfluous dimension, so when we ask "how many dimensions is X" we're probably really asking "what's the minimum number of dimensions necessary to completely describe X". You're asking a bunch of morons on the internet to define a dimension, and so that's going as well as expected.
